Target Information
MLH1 is a DNA mismatch repair protein essential for maintaining genetic integrity. Defects in mismatch repair pathways can lead to microsatellite instability (MSI) and have been associated with carcinogenesis. Mutations in mismatch repair genes such as MLH1 are linked to hereditary nonpolyposis colon cancer (HNPC). MLH1, in complex with PMSH, participates in later steps of mismatch repair after MSH2 recognizes mismatched nucleotides.
