Target Information
CD13 (ANPEP) is a 150–170 kDa type II transmembrane zinc-binding ectopeptidase expressed on various cell types.
It functions as a metalloprotease that removes neutral amino acids from small peptides, regulating activation or inactivation of bioactive peptides.
CD13 plays roles in extracellular matrix degradation, antigen processing, signal transduction, inflammatory responses, intercellular contact regulation, cell motility, and vascularization.
It is expressed by granulocytes, monocytes, and myeloid leukemia cells, contributing to leukemic cell protection against apoptosis and poor carcinoma prognosis.
Additionally, CD13 acts as an aminopeptidase enzyme and alpha receptor for coronavirus.
