Product Specific Information
Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. These systems clone specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits and screen individual clones to select optimal candidates for production.
Advantages include:
- Enhanced specificity and sensitivity
- Lot-to-lot consistency
- Animal origin-free formulations
- Broader immunoreactivity due to larger rabbit immune repertoire
Target Information
CEA (Carcinoembryonic Antigen, CD66e) is synthesized during fetal gut development and re-expressed in intestinal carcinomas and other tumors. It belongs to the immunoglobulin supergene family, consisting of one N domain and six constant-like domains (A1–A3, B1–B3).
Antibodies to CEA help identify the origin of metastatic adenocarcinomas and distinguish pulmonary adenocarcinomas (CEA+) from pleural mesotheliomas (rarely CEA+).
CEA is a glycoprotein tumor marker found in adenocarcinomas of endodermally derived digestive epithelium and fetal colon. Its gene cluster on chromosome 19 includes CEA cell adhesion molecules and pregnancy-specific glycoproteins, along with pseudogenes.
The encoded protein mediates cell adhesion and is involved in tissue differentiation, angiogenesis, apoptosis, tumor suppression, metastasis, and immune modulation. Multiple transcript variants exist, but not all are fully defined.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
