Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of TIE2 only when phosphorylated at Tyr992.
Target Information
The TEK receptor tyrosine kinase is expressed almost exclusively in endothelial cells. TEK signaling is critical for endothelial cell–smooth muscle cell communication in venous morphogenesis, and defects in TEK are associated with inherited venous malformations.
The ligand angiopoietin-1 binds to this receptor and mediates a signaling pathway essential for embryonic vascular development.
Immunoblotting has shown that TIE2 expression increases with thyroid-stimulating hormone and agents that elevate intracellular cAMP.
Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) expressing TIE2 are quiescent and antiapoptotic, forming a side population that adheres to osteoblasts in the bone marrow niche.
