This antibody detects endogenous levels of PTP alpha only when phosphorylated at Tyr798.
Target Information
Phosphorylation of receptors by protein kinases can be reversed by protein phosphatases. The coordinated control of kinases and phosphatases allows cells to switch rapidly between phosphorylated and dephosphorylated states in response to environmental stimuli. Dysregulation of this balance can lead to uncontrolled cell growth and diseases such as cancer and developmental disorders. Protein phosphatases, though not highly substrate-specific, play a crucial role in maintaining signaling homeostasis by regulating dephosphorylation and phosphoprotein turnover.
