Target Information
Thrombomodulin (TM), also known as Fetomodulin (FM), endothelial anticoagulant protein, or glycoprotein P112, is a membrane glycoprotein expressed on endothelial cells. It contains six epidermal growth factor (EGF)-like domains and a lectin-like amino terminal domain. TM accelerates activation of protein C, contributing to thrombo-resistance and reducing clot formation on endothelial surfaces. Immunohistochemical staining for TM is used in the study of vascular tumors, meningiomas, and choriocarcinomas.
