Product Specific Information
For immunohistochemistry (PFA-fixed):
- Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
The androgen receptor (AR) is a member of the steroid-hormone receptor superfamily of nuclear receptors. It is a ligand-activated transcription factor that binds active testosterone (T) and dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Upon ligand binding, AR dissociates from accessory proteins, translocates into the nucleus, dimerizes, and stimulates transcription of androgen-responsive genes.
AR signaling is essential for the development and function of male reproductive organs such as the prostate and epididymis, and also plays roles in nonreproductive tissues including muscle, hair follicles, and brain. The receptor is a phosphoprotein that regulates MAP kinase activity, and its phosphorylation state is influenced by the MEK1/2 pathway. Dysregulation of AR signaling is associated with diseases such as prostate cancer, Kennedy’s disease, male infertility, and complete androgen insensitivity syndrome (CAIS).
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
