This antibody detects endogenous levels of eNOS only when phosphorylated at Serine 1177.
Target Information
Nitric oxide (NO) is an inorganic, gaseous free radical that mediates intercellular signaling, including vasorelaxation, neurotransmission, and cytotoxicity. NO production is catalyzed by nitric oxide synthase (NOS) family enzymes, which convert L-arginine to L-citrulline and NO. There are three NOS isoforms:
- nNOS (type I) – neuronal NOS
- iNOS (type II) – inducible NOS
- eNOS (type III) – endothelial NOS
All NOS isoforms contain binding domains for calmodulin, NADPH, FAD, and FMN.
