Target Information

Metadherin (MTDH), also known as LYRIC (Lysine-Rich CEACAM1 co-isolated), is a novel protein localized with tight junction proteins ZO-1 and occludin in polarized epithelial cells.
It is recruited during tight junction maturation rather than serving as a structural component.
MTDH is overexpressed in breast cancer tissues and xenografts, while expression is low in normal breast tissue.
It binds lung vasculature via a C-terminal extracellular domain segment, a mechanism implicated in breast cancer metastasis.
Blocking this domain or inhibiting MTDH expression can reduce metastatic spread.
