Target Information
This gene encodes a member of a family of translation repressor proteins that directly interact with eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E (eIF4E). This interaction inhibits the assembly of the translation initiation complex and represses translation. Phosphorylation of this protein at Thr37 and Thr46 in response to various stimuli (such as UV irradiation or insulin signaling) leads to its dissociation from eIF4E and activation of mRNA translation.
