Target Information
This gene encodes a subunit of the transcription factor complex NF-κB. NF-κB is expressed in numerous cell types and acts as a key regulator of genes involved in inflammation and immune responses. The p100 full-length protein is co-translationally processed into an active p52 form. Chromosomal rearrangements and translocations involving this gene have been observed in B cell lymphomas, potentially leading to fusion proteins. A pseudogene exists on chromosome 18, and alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
