This antibody shows less than 5% cross-reactivity with recombinant mouse (rm) IL-1 beta and rpIL-1 beta and no cross-reactivity with rrIL-1 beta, rmIL-1 alpha, rhIL-1ra, rmIL-1ra, or rrIL-1 alpha.
Target Information
Interleukin-1 beta (IL-1 beta) is a proinflammatory cytokine expressed by monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. It is synthesized as a 31 kDa inactive pro-form that accumulates in the cytosol and is cleaved into the active 17 kDa form by caspase-1 upon inflammasome activation. IL-1 beta lacks a signal peptide for classical secretion and is released via an alternative pathway. It signals through IL-1RI and IL-1RII receptors shared with IL-1 alpha, and its activity is regulated by IL-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1RA). IL-1 beta plays a key role in innate immune responses and inflammation, and elevated levels are associated with chronic inflammatory diseases.
