Target Information
CD90 (Thy1) antigen is a GPI-linked glycoprotein and a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is expressed in murine T cells, thymocytes, neural cells, Kupffer’s cells, and fibroblasts. CD90 plays a role in cell-cell and cell-ligand interactions during synaptogenesis and other neural events. It serves as a marker for various stem cells and axonal processes of mature neurons. Structural studies of CD90 contributed to defining the immunoglobulin superfamily and the first biochemical characterization of a vertebrate GPI anchor.
Diseases associated with CD90 dysfunction include nasopharyngeal carcinoma and thymoma.
