Target Information
CD90 (Thy1) antigen is a GPI-linked glycoprotein and a member of the Immunoglobulin superfamily. It is expressed in murine T cells, thymocytes, neural cells, Kupffer’s cells, and fibroblasts. CD90 plays a role in cell-cell or cell-ligand interactions during synaptogenesis and other brain events. It serves as a marker for various stem cells and axonal processes of mature neurons. Structural studies of CD90 led to the foundation of the Immunoglobulin superfamily and the first biochemical characterization of a vertebrate GPI anchor. Dysfunctions of CD90 are associated with diseases such as nasopharyngeal carcinoma and thymoma.
