Predicted to react with birds, fungi, and all mammals based on sequence homology.
Rat anti-Tubulin alpha antibody, clone YOL1/34 recognizes the alpha subunit of tubulin. The reactivity pattern is similar to that seen with clone YL1/2.
This antibody is routinely tested in ELISA on Tubulin.
Target Information
Alpha Tubulin is part of a heterodimer consisting of alpha and beta tubulin subunits (~55 kDa each). These subunits form the basic building blocks of microtubules, which serve as structural supports and intracellular transport lines, and play a key role in mitosis.
Microtubules are essential components of the eukaryotic cytoskeleton, composed of alpha and beta tubulin heterodimers, while gamma tubulin is critical for microtubule nucleation.
Multiple alpha and beta tubulin genes are highly conserved among species. The alpha tubulin gene is highly similar to the mouse and rat Tuba1 gene. Northern blot studies show predominant expression in morphologically differentiated neurologic cells.
