Target Information

FABP5 (fatty acid binding protein 5, psoriasis-associated) is a cytoplasmic protein encoded by the FABP5 gene, also known as PAFABP, EFABP, E-FABP, KFABP, and PA-FABP.
It binds long-chain fatty acids and other hydrophobic ligands, playing roles in fatty acid uptake, transport, and metabolism.
The human FABP5 protein consists of 135 amino acids with a molecular weight of approximately 15,164 Da.
FABP5 expression is upregulated in psoriatic tissue and functions in intracellular fatty acid transport.
Kaczocha et al. (2009) identified FABP5 and FABP7 as cytosolic proteins that transport AEA to fatty acid amide hydrolase for hydrolysis and inactivation, a function not observed in FABP3.
