Wnt5A is a secreted glycoprotein belonging to the Wnt family, localized in the extracellular region. It acts as a proto-oncogene involved in modulating cell fate and behavior during vertebrate development and plays a key role in the Wnt signaling pathway. Wnt5A functions as a ligand for frizzled family receptors, influencing cell communication and tissue development. It is thought to act as a developmental signaling molecule operating over short distances.
