Target Information
MAPK11 (p38 beta) is a serine/threonine kinase involved in various cellular processes and activated by proinflammatory cytokines and environmental stress. The protein encoded by p38 MAPK beta belongs to the MAP kinase family, which acts as an integration point for multiple biochemical signals. It plays roles in proliferation, differentiation, transcription regulation, and development. This kinase is closely related to p38 MAP kinase and is activated through phosphorylation by MAP kinase kinases (MKKs), preferably by MKK6. Transcription factor ATF2/CREB2 has been identified as a substrate of this kinase.
