• Reconstitute with 0.5 mL PBS containing 0.1% BSA.
• Prior to reconstitution, store at 4°C.
• After reconstitution, store undiluted at -20°C, avoiding freeze/thaw cycles.
• For long-term storage, the addition of 0.09% sodium azide is recommended.
• Suitable for Western Blotting under reducing or non-reducing conditions.
• Rabbit anti-human Interferon gamma antibody recognizes human IFN-gamma (Interferon-gamma), a 143 amino acid regulatory cytokine and member of the Type II interferon family.

Target Information

IFN gamma (Interferon gamma, Type II interferon) is a macrophage activation factor and immune interferon produced primarily by T-lymphocytes and natural killer cells in response to antigens, mitogens, Staphylococcus enterotoxin B, phytohemaglutanin, and other cytokines.
It is a dimeric glycoprotein consisting of two 146 amino acid subunits (approx. 45 kDa homodimer). On SDS-PAGE, it appears as 25, 20, and 15.5 kDa bands due to differential glycosylation.

Key biological functions include:

• Antiviral and tumor antiproliferative activity
• Induction of class I and II MHC
• Macrophage activation
• Enhanced immunoglobulin secretion by B lymphocytes

IFN gamma acts via the JAK-STAT pathway through IFN gamma receptor I and II.
Human IFN gamma does not cross-react with mouse IFN gamma but shares ~40% sequence homology.
Expression is upregulated by IL2, FGF basic, EGF, and downregulated by vitamin D3 or DMN.
Mutations in the IFN gamma gene are associated with aplastic anemia.
