This peptide corresponds to 14 amino acids near the amino terminus of human XAF-1 (IN).
PEP-0208 can be used as a blocking peptide with polyclonal antibody PA5-20090.
Target Information
The inhibitors of apoptosis (IAP) proteins prevent cell death both in vitro and in vivo by inhibiting distinct caspases.
The X-linked Inhibitor of Apoptosis (XIAP) is a key member of the IAP family.
XIAP’s caspase-inhibiting activity is negatively regulated by XIAP-associated factor 1 (XAF1) and Smac/DIABLO.
XAF1 binds to XIAP and antagonizes its caspase inhibitory activity. Expression of XAF1 redistributes XIAP from the cytosol to the nucleus.
XAF1 is ubiquitously expressed in normal tissues but often reduced or absent in many cancer cell lines.
