Target Information
Nuclear factor kB p65 (NF-kB p65) is encoded by the RELA gene and located on chromosome 11 in humans. Also known as RelA, it belongs to the Rel family of proteins. NF-kB p65 forms heterodimers with subunits p50 or p52 and plays a central role in regulating immune response and transcription of immunoglobulin k (kappa) genes in mature B-lymphoid cells.
Binding of TNF-alpha to its receptor activates IKK, leading to phosphorylation and proteasomal degradation of IκB, thereby releasing NF-kB to translocate to the nucleus.
