Product Specific Information
- For reconstitution, add 100 µL of distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
- For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step (recommended: Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).
Target Information
CD33 is a transmembrane protein belonging to the sialic acid-binding immunoglobulin-like lectin (Siglec) family. It contains immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motifs (ITIMs) that recruit protein tyrosine phosphatases SHP-1 and SHP-2, contributing to receptor regulation via ubiquitin-mediated removal from the cell surface.
CD33 is expressed on cells of the myelomonocytic lineage, including granulocyte and macrophage precursors in the bone marrow, but not on pluripotent stem cells. It binds sialic acid residues on N- and O-glycans and serves as a therapeutic target for acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Additionally, CD33 is a useful marker for distinguishing myelogenous leukemia cells from lymphoid or erythroid leukemias.
Diseases associated with CD33 dysfunction include gallbladder lymphoma and extracutaneous mastocytoma.
