Immunogen
This Protein-A purified antibody was prepared by repeated immunizations with an MBP-tagged recombinant protein produced in E. coli corresponding to full-length mouse NAG-1 protein. Cross-reactivity to MBP was removed via cross-adsorption chromatography.
Product Specific Information
Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration. For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
This antibody reacts with endogenous NAG-1 protein from mouse and human tissues. A BLAST analysis suggests reactivity with NAG-1 from rat based on 100% homology. Partial reactivity is expected against swine, bovine, and dog based on 92% homology. Cross-reactivity with NAG-1 from other sources has not been determined.
Target Information
GDF-15 belongs to the TGF-beta cytokine family, which plays important roles during prenatal development, postnatal growth, and tissue remodeling. GDF-15 is predominantly expressed in the placenta and to a lesser extent in other tissues. Its presence in amniotic fluid and elevated levels in pregnant women suggest involvement in gestation and embryonic development. GDF-15 generally exhibits tumor-suppressive activities and is a major factor induced by the p53 pathway. Serum GDF-15 levels correlate positively with tumor progression in several cancers, including colorectal, pancreatic, and prostate cancers.
