• Percent identity with other species by BLAST analysis:
  Human, Gorilla, Gibbon, Monkey, Marmoset, Mouse, Rat, Bovine, Dog, Elephant, Panda, Horse, Guinea pig (100%);
  Opossum (94%); Turkey, Chicken (89%); Lizard, Zebrafish, Stickleback (83%).

• For IHC(P), use heat-induced antigen retrieval in pH 6.0 citrate buffer.
  After incubation with the primary antibody, slides were incubated with biotinylated secondary antibody, followed by alkaline phosphatase-streptavidin and chromogen.

Target Information

The neurotransmitter serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT) has been implicated in various psychiatric conditions and also has vasoconstrictive and vasodilatory effects.
The gene described in this record is a member of the 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin) receptor family and encodes a multi-pass membrane protein that functions as a receptor for 5-hydroxytryptamine and couples to G-proteins.
This protein functions in part through regulation of intracellular Ca²⁺ mobilization.
