CA는 수소 이온(H⁺) 흐름을 조절하여 정상 조직의 pH를 유지하는 데 중요한 역할을 합니다.
저산소 조건에서 CA IX의 억제는 세포사멸을 증가시키므로, CA IX는 저산소 상태의 신뢰할 수 있는 조직화학적 마커로 사용됩니다.
