This Protein-A purified antibody was prepared by repeated immunizations with an MBP-tagged recombinant protein produced in E. coli corresponding to full-length mouse NAG-1 protein. Cross-reactivity to MBP was removed via cross-adsorption chromatography.

Product Specific Information

Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration. For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.

This antibody reacts with endogenous NAG-1 protein from mouse and human tissues. A BLAST analysis suggests reactivity with NAG-1 from rat based on 100% homology. Partial reactivity is expected against swine, bovine, and dog based on 92% homology. Cross-reactivity with NAG-1 from other sources has not been determined.

Target Information

GDF-15 belongs to the TGF-beta cytokine family, whose members play important roles during prenatal development and postnatal growth, as well as tissue remodeling and maintenance. GDF-15 is expressed predominantly in the placenta and, to a lesser extent, in various other tissues. Its presence in amniotic fluid and elevated serum levels in pregnant women suggest involvement in gestation and embryonic development. GDF-15 generally exerts tumor-suppressive activities and is a key factor produced in response to p53 activation. Serum GDF-15 levels are positively correlated with progression of several tumor types, including colorectal, pancreatic, and prostate cancers.
