Target Information
UBA2 is involved in the covalent attachment of one protein to another, a key posttranslational modification. Ubiquitin is the most well-known modifier, but SUMO (Sentrin) has emerged as another important ubiquitin-like protein. SUMO contributes to stabilization and localization of target proteins. The conjugation of SUMO-1, SUMO-2, and SUMO-3 onto target proteins requires the coordinated activity of E1-activating enzyme SAE1/SAE2, E2-conjugating enzyme Ubc9, and an E3-like SUMO ligase.
