Target Information
CASK is a calcium/calmodulin-dependent serine protein kinase which belongs to the MAGUK (membrane-associated guanylate kinase) protein family.
CASK acts as a scaffold protein located at synapses in the brain. Mutations or dysfunctions of CASK are associated with FG syndrome 4, mental retardation, microcephaly with pontine and cerebellar hypoplasia, and certain forms of X-linked mental retardation.
CASK functions as a cytoskeletal membrane scaffold coordinating signal transduction pathways within the cortical cytoskeleton.
