Antibody detects endogenous levels of total p27 Kip1.
Target Information
p27 Kip1 functions as a negative regulator of G1 phase progression and may mediate TGFβ-induced G1 arrest. It is a key regulator of cell cycle progression and a potent inhibitor of cyclin E- and cyclin A-CDK2 complexes. p27 Kip1 forms complexes with cyclin D-CDK4 and contributes to their assembly, stability, and modulation. Depending on its phosphorylation state, p27 Kip1 can act as either an inhibitor or activator of cyclin D-CDK4 complexes. It has an approximate molecular weight of 27 kDa, and its degradation via CDK-dependent phosphorylation and ubiquitination by SCF complexes is essential for the transition from quiescence to the proliferative state.
