Antibody detects endogenous levels of total p14 ARF.
Target Information
The INK4a locus on chromosome 9p21 is frequently affected in human tumors. It encodes two structurally distinct tumor suppressor proteins, p16INK4a and ARF (p14ARF in human, P19ARF in mouse).
These proteins interact with upstream tumor suppressors — retinoblastoma protein and p53 — and play key roles in cell senescence and tumor suppression pathways.
p14ARF induces G1 and G2 phase arrest depending on functional p53. The functional differences between mouse and human ARF may contribute to species-specific tumor susceptibility.
