Product Specific Information

Specificity: MT310 binds to the extracellular domain D1 of CD4—the same site as the HIV-1 gp120-binding site.


Target Information

The CD4 antigen is involved in the recognition of MHC class II molecules and acts as a co-receptor for HIV. CD4 is primarily expressed in T helper cells but may also be found in monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. At the tissue level, CD4 expression occurs in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and specific regions of the brain and gut. CD4 facilitates early T-cell activation through association with the T-cell receptor complex and Lck kinase, and may play a role in neuronal damage in infectious or immune-mediated CNS diseases. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts have been identified (RefSeq, July 2017).
