Target Information
CCR8 encodes a member of the beta chemokine receptor family, predicted to be a seven transmembrane G protein-coupled receptor. Chemokines and their receptors mediate migration of various cell types into inflammatory sites. CCR8 is preferentially expressed in the thymus. Known ligands include I-309, TARC, and MIP1 beta.
Studies suggest CCR8’s role in monocyte chemotaxis, thymic cell apoptosis, and positioning of activated T cells within antigenic challenge sites and lymphoid tissues.
CCR8 expression has been reported in spleen, thymus, NK cells, monocytes, T cells, and at lower levels in peripheral blood leukocytes.
