Target Information
Nuclear factor kB p65 (NF-kB p65) is encoded by the RELA gene located on chromosome 11 in humans. Also known as RelA, it belongs to the Rel family of proteins and forms one of the two subunits of NF-kB (Nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells). NF-kB p65 heterodimerizes with subunits p50 or p52. Upon TNF alpha binding to its receptor, IKK is phosphorylated, leading to phosphorylation and proteasomal degradation of I kB. NF-kB p65 plays a key role in transcriptional regulation, particularly of the immunoglobulin k (kappa) gene in mature B-lymphoid cells.
