Target Information

The FBXO8 gene encodes a member of the F-box protein family, characterized by a ~40 amino acid F-box motif. F-box proteins are subunits of the ubiquitin ligase complex SCFs (SKP1-cullin-F-box), which mediate phosphorylation-dependent ubiquitination.
F-box proteins are classified into three types:

1. Fbws – containing WD-40 domains
2. Fbls – containing leucine-rich repeats
3. Fbxs – containing diverse interaction modules or no recognizable motifs

FBXO8 belongs to the Fbxs class and includes a C-terminal sequence similar to yeast Sec7p, a regulator of vesicular protein transport. This protein may interact with ADP-ribosylation factors (ARFs) and exhibit ARF-GEF (guanine nucleotide exchange factor) activity.
