Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Rat EGF. Anti-Rat EGF-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography employing an immobilized Rat EGF matrix.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Rat EGF by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.5–2.0 µg/mL of this antibody is required.
This antigen affinity purified antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Biotinylated Anti-Rat EGF (500-P277Bt) as a detection antibody, allows the detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Rat EGF.

Western Blot:
To detect Rat EGF by Western Blot analysis, this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.5–1.0 µg/mL.
Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant Rat EGF is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor) binds to the EGF receptor (EGFR), a 170 kDa protein kinase, initiating diverse cellular pathways.
Upon activation, EGFR forms homo- or heterodimers with other family members, each triggering distinct signaling cascades via recruitment of SH2-containing effector proteins.
EGF is widely expressed in kidney, cerebrum, prostate, and salivary glands, acting as a potent mitogenic factor.
The phosphorylated receptor recruits adapter proteins like GRB2, activating downstream pathways such as RAS-RAF-MEK-ERK, PI3K-AKT, PLCγ-PKC, and STAT.
Research indicates EGF may also activate the NF-κB signaling cascade.
Defects in the EGF gene cause hypomagnesemia type 4, and dysregulation is linked to cancer progression.
