Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Rat EGF. Anti-Rat EGF-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and subsequently biotinylated.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Rat EGF by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), use 0.25–1.0 µg/mL of this antibody. In conjunction with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Rat EGF (500-P277) as a capture antibody, this biotinylated polyclonal antibody enables detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Rat EGF.

Western Blot:
For detection of Rat EGF by Western Blot, use 0.5–1.0 µg/mL of this antibody. When used with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant Rat EGF is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) binds to the EGF receptor (EGFR, 170 kDa protein kinase), triggering multiple cellular pathways. Upon ligand binding, EGFR forms homo- or heterodimers with other receptor family members, initiating distinct signaling cascades via SH2-containing effector proteins.
EGF is widely expressed in kidney, brain, prostate, and salivary glands, acting as a potent mitogenic factor. It activates downstream pathways such as RAS-RAF-MEK-ERK, PI3K-AKT, PLCγ-PKC, and STAT. EGF may also influence NF-κB signaling.
Defects in the EGF gene are associated with hypomagnesemia type 4, and dysregulation is linked to cancer progression.
