Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the keratin family, which includes intermediate filament proteins responsible for maintaining epithelial cell integrity. Cytokeratin 20 is a major structural protein in mature enterocytes and goblet cells, specifically expressed in gastric and intestinal mucosa. Type I cytokeratin genes are located in the chromosome region 17q12–q21.
