Target Information
The mGluR proteins (metabotropic Glutamate Receptors) belong to the G-protein-coupled receptor family and are distinct from ionotropic Glutamate Receptors (GluR). Eight mGluR subtypes are known, functioning via G-proteins that regulate adenylate cyclase pathways. mGluR1 and mGluR5 activate phosphatidylinositol-calcium signaling, while others inhibit adenylate cyclase activity. mGluR3 may interact with GRASP and acts as a receptor for glutamate.
