For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to obtain a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step (recommended: Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

The SMAD1 protein belongs to the SMAD family, which includes proteins similar to Drosophila mothers against decapentaplegic (Mad) and C. elegans Sma.
SMAD proteins act as signal transducers and transcriptional modulators mediating BMP (bone morphogenetic protein) signaling pathways.
SMAD1 mediates BMP-induced cellular processes such as growth, apoptosis, morphogenesis, development, and immune responses.
Upon BMP stimulation, SMAD1 becomes phosphorylated by BMP receptor kinases and forms a complex with SMAD4 to regulate transcription.
It is also a substrate for SMAD-specific E3 ubiquitin ligases (SMURF1, SMURF2), undergoing ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation.
Alternative splicing variants encoding the same protein have been observed.
