Product Specific Information
For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to obtain a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform desalting using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns (7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882) prior to use.
Target Information
This gene encodes two proteins: sterol carrier protein X (SCPx) and sterol carrier protein 2 (SCP2), resulting from transcription initiation from two independently regulated promoters.
- The proximal promoter produces the longer SCPx protein.
- The distal promoter produces the shorter SCP2 protein.
Both proteins share a common C-terminus.
SCPx acts as a peroxisome-associated thiolase involved in oxidation of branched-chain fatty acids, while SCP2 functions as an intracellular lipid transfer protein.
This gene is highly expressed in organs involved in lipid metabolism and may be associated with Zellweger syndrome, characterized by peroxisome deficiency and impaired bile acid synthesis.
Alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
