Rkhd4 (MEX3A)는 두 개의 KH 도메인과 하나의 C-말단 RING finger 모듈을 포함하는 새로운 MEX3 단백질 계열에 속하는 RNA 결합 단백질입니다.
이 단백질은 인산화된 형태로 존재하며, KH 도메인을 통해 RNA에 결합하고 CRM1 경로를 통해 핵과 세포질 간을 이동합니다.
Rkhd4 및 Rkhd3는 hDcp1a decapping factor와 Argonaute(Ago) 단백질과 함께 mRNA turnover 중심인 P bodies에 공존합니다.
Rkhd2가 본태성 고혈압 8형과 연관된 것으로 보고된 반면, Rkhd4의 기능은 아직 명확히 밝혀지지 않았습니다.
