Target Information
TSC22 domain family protein (TSC22) is a transcription factor belonging to the early response gene family. It acts as a transcriptional repressor on the C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP) promoter and is part of the TSC-22/Dip/Bun family. TSC22 is localized in the cytoplasm or nucleus and regulates cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis. It modulates the transcriptional activity of Smad3 and Smad4 and is expressed ubiquitously in both fetal and adult tissues, including aortic endothelial cells. Expression is induced by cytokines such as TGFB. TSC22 proteins are potential therapeutic targets in leukemia and prostate cancer.
