Target Information
Cellular retinaldehyde-binding protein (CRALBP)는 rod 시각 색소(opsin, rhodopsin)의 재생에 필요한 11-cis-retinal 생성 과정에서 중요한 역할을 합니다.
11-cis-retinal이 rod 외절에서 광이성화되면 all-trans-retinal로 변환되고, 이후 all-trans-retinol로 전환됩니다.
이 물질은 망막색소상피(RPE)로 확산되어 11-cis-retinol로 다시 변환되고, CRALBP에 의해 11-cis-retinal로 산화됩니다.
CRALBP 기능 결핍 관련 유전적 돌연변이는 bothnia dystrophy, retinitis punctata albescens, retina pigmentosa, Newfoundland rod-cone dystrophy 등의 시각 질환과 연관되어 있습니다.
CRALBP는 망막의 RPE 및 Müller 교세포의 마커로 사용됩니다.
