Target Information
The ATR protein is a serine/threonine kinase and DNA damage sensor that activates cell cycle checkpoint signaling upon DNA stress. It can phosphorylate and activate several proteins involved in the inhibition of DNA replication and mitosis, and promotes DNA repair, recombination, and apoptosis. ATR also plays a key role in fragile site stability and centrosome duplication.
Defects in this gene are associated with Seckel syndrome 1.
