Product Specific Information
This antibody reacts with CD16⁺ granulocytes and can be used for mapping CD16-158V/F polymorphism on NK cells, as it requires the presence of V at amino acid 158.
Target Information
CD16 encodes a receptor that recognizes the Fc portion of immunoglobulin G and is involved in immune complex clearance, cellular mediated cytotoxicity, and viral infection enhancement.
The gene FCGR3A shares high similarity with FCGR3B, both located on chromosome 1.
- FCGR3A: expressed on NK cells (transmembrane anchored)
- FCGR3B: expressed on polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PI-linked)
Mutations in FCGR3A are associated with:
- Immunodeficiency 20
- Susceptibility to recurrent viral infections
- Systemic lupus erythematosus
- Alloimmune neonatal neutropenia
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
