Product Specific Information

This antibody recognizes human Siglec-5 (Sialic acid-binding Ig-like lectin 5), also known as CD170. It is a sialic acid-binding Ig-like lectin and member of the Ig superfamily, expressed by dendritic cells (DCs), activated macrophages, neutrophils, and cells of the monocyte/myeloid lineage.


Target Information

SIGLEC5 is a member of the sialic acid-binding immunoglobulin-like lectin (Siglec) family. These cell surface lectins are characterized by structural motifs in the immunoglobulin (Ig)-like domains and sialic acid recognition sites in the first Ig V set domain. The encoded protein belongs to the CD33-related subset of Siglecs and inhibits activation of several cell types, including monocytes, macrophages, and neutrophils. Binding of group B Streptococcus (GBS) to this protein contributes to GBS immune evasion.
