This antibody recognizes human Semaphorin 4D, also known as CD100, A8, BB18 or GR3.
CD100 is an 841 amino acid, approximately 150 kDa homodimeric single-pass type I transmembrane cell surface glycoprotein acting as a receptor for certain members of the plexin family.
Target Information
Semaphorins are neuronal chemorepellents that direct pioneering neurons during nervous system development.
CD100 (also known as Semaphorin 4D), a 150 kDa homodimer, is a novel semaphorin that induces B cells to aggregate and enhances their viability in vitro.
CD100 modifies CD40–CD40L B cell signaling by promoting B cell aggregation and survival while downregulating CD23 expression.
CD72 is a lymphocyte receptor for class IV semaphorin CD100, involved in regulating B cell signaling.
CD100 is expressed on resting and PHA-stimulated T cells, weakly on NK cells, EBV-transformed B cells, monocytes, and tumor/peripheral blood T cell lines, and at higher density on activated T and B cells.
