Product Specific Information

The JES6-5H4 antibody reacts with mouse interleukin-2 (IL-2), a 17 kDa T cell growth factor and a major immunoregulatory cytokine.

Applications Reported:
JES6-5H4 has been reported for use in detection of mouse IL-2 by ELISA, intracellular staining, flow cytometric analysis, immunoprecipitation, and for neutralizing IL-2 binding and biological activity.

Applications Tested:
This antibody has been tested as the detection antibody in a sandwich ELISA for analysis of mouse IL-2 in combination with purified JES6-1A12 (14-7022) as the capture antibody and recombinant mouse IL-2 (14-8021) as the standard.
A suitable range of concentrations for ELISA detection is 0.5–2 µg/mL.
A standard curve consisting of doubling dilutions of the recombinant standard over the range of 500 pg/mL–4 pg/mL should be included in each ELISA plate.

Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.

Target Information

Interleukin 2 (IL-2) is an immunomodulatory cytokine essential for proliferation of activated T cells, differentiation of B cells, NK cells, monocytes, and macrophages. IL-2 signals through the IL-2 receptor (IL-2R), a heterotrimeric complex whose gamma chain is shared with IL-4 and IL-7.
Expression of the IL-2 gene in mature thymocytes is monoallelic, representing a unique regulatory mechanism for precise gene expression.
Disruption of an IL-2-like gene in mice leads to an ulcerative colitis-like disease, indicating its critical role in immune response regulation.
