PLAC1는 원래 태반 및 배아 발달 중 영양막 계통에서 특이적으로 발현되는 단백질로 확인되었으며, 다양한 인간 암종(특히 유방암)에서도 발현이 보고되었습니다.
PLAC1는 세포막 관련 단백질로, 모체-태반 간 상호작용에서 수용체 유사 기능을 수행하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
PLAC1 발현 감소는 cyclin D1 및 AKT kinase의 발현 감소와 연관되어 있으며, 암세포 표면에서 발현된다는 점에서 항암 면역치료의 유망한 표적 후보로 제시됩니다.
