Target Information
WD repeat proteins regulate assembly of multiprotein complexes by providing a beta-propeller platform for protein-protein interactions.
WIPI2 (also known as ATG18B or ATG21) is a human homolog of yeast ATG18, containing three WD repeats and forming a 7-bladed propeller structure.
It interacts with Atg16L and ULK1 and is essential for LC3-positive autophagosome formation.
WIPI2, along with WIPI1, is localized to both plasma and autophagosomal membranes.
